Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
FDT Training respects your privacy. This policy explains, under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), what information this website collects, where it goes and what choices you have.
In short: our web server keeps a list of visitors’ IP addresses and an audit trail. Our pages do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. What you type into the flight review simulator stays in your own browser and is not sent to us. We do not sell personal information.
1. IP addresses and audit trail
Under PIPEDA, an IP address can be personal information. Our web server automatically records each visit in its logs. These logs are our IP address list and audit trail. For each request they may include:
- your IP address;
- the page or file requested, and the date and time;
- basic browser and device information your browser sends (such as browser type);
- security-related events, such as errors and blocked requests.
We use these records to keep our website, simulator and course materials secure, to detect and prevent misuse such as unauthorized access or copying of our content, and to investigate security incidents. We may restrict access to the site from an IP address involved in misuse.
2. The flight review simulator
Information you enter
To use the simulator you enter your FDT school examination ID and the ground school password. During the review you may also enter:
- your name, Candidate ID (Drone Management Portal) and exam reference numbers, and confirmation that your photo ID was checked;
- a human factors self-check: IMSAFE answers (illness, medication, stress, alcohol, fatigue and eating), hours of sleep, your stress level, how likely you think you are to pass, and an optional note about what worries you;
- your answers to questions and scenarios, and your flight and scanning results.
This information is processed only in your own browser. It is not sent to FDT Training, and it is cleared when you close or reload the page, except for the items saved on your device listed below. The password is checked in your browser and is not stored. Some answers, such as illness, medication and alcohol, are health-related; they never leave your device.
What the simulator saves on your device
The simulator uses your browser’s storage (not cookies) to save a few items on your device only. FDT Training cannot see them.
| Item | What it holds | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | Your FDT school examination ID, so you stay signed in | Until you close the browser tab |
| Password attempts | The number of wrong password attempts | Until you sign in correctly or an instructor unlocks the simulator |
| Lock status | Why and when the simulator was locked, and your FDT school examination ID | Until an instructor unlocks the simulator |
| Recent results | Your last 8 attempts: date, name, certificate type, pass or fail, and the number of critical and major errors | Until you clear this site’s data in your browser |
Instructor video calls
If you choose to start an instructor call in the simulator, it runs on Jitsi Meet (see section 3). Jitsi receives your name, the room name (which includes your FDT school examination ID), your camera video and microphone audio, and your IP address. Calls only start when you click Join call, and your browser asks before using your camera or microphone.
3. Third-party services
Our pages load content from the services below. When your browser connects to them, they receive your IP address and basic browser information, and they handle it under their own privacy policies. They may process information outside Canada, including in the United States.
| Service | Used on | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts (Google) | All pages | Loads the fonts used on the site |
| cdnjs (Cloudflare) | Flight review simulator | Loads the 3D graphics library for the flight |
| Jitsi Meet (meet.jit.si) | Simulator, only when you start an instructor call | Video call with your instructor |
We do not currently use an AI chat service on this website. If we add one, such as Tidio Chat and its Lyro AI agent, we will update this policy before it goes live.
4. Cookies
Our pages do not set cookies. If you start an instructor call, Jitsi Meet may set its own cookies or storage under its own policy.
5. When you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to help you with our courses.
6. How we protect and keep information
Access to our server logs and email is limited to authorized FDT Training staff. We keep IP addresses, audit records and emails only as long as we need them for the purposes above, then delete them. We do not sell personal information.
7. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask questions about our privacy practices. Contact our privacy contact at hello@fdttraining.ca. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Your consent. By continuing to use this website, you consent to the collection and use of information described in this policy, including your IP address and the audit trail. If you do not agree, please do not use this website and leave it now. You can contact us at hello@fdttraining.ca instead.
